Chalmers Choir is the oldest and largest student association within the Student Union of Chalmers University. Since days of old have Chalmers' students 'sung ensemble'. The first time a student of Chalmers gave voice was as early as 1870, and the choir has since sung at many arrangements at Chalmers University.
Additionally, the choir arranges Christmas concerts in Vasakyrkan, and performs at Lucia day.
In the beginning, there was a group of merry men who sang in the Men's choir. As female technology students became more common they were naturally inclined to sing in the choir, and so, the mixed Chamber choir was formed in 1964. The interest in the choir kept growing and in 1978 the Vocal Ensemble was formed to keep up with demand. This finally spawned the Women's choir in 1987, an all female choir, and in 2001 the Vocal Ensemble became part of the Chamber choir, leaving a trio of choirs.
Today, roughly 120 members sing in the three choirs.
